Acrylics (Baths & Panels)

  1. How thick are Acrylic baths?


  2. ANSWER:
    We use a 5mm Acrylic sheet which is suction formed therefore the thickness may vary around the bath. Our baths also have a glass fibre resin, which encapsulate a baseboard for extra strength.


  3. How thick are Idealcast baths?


  4. ANSWER:
    Our Ideal Cast baths are 8mm, we use a 5mm Acrylic sheet and cast onto the reverse a composite of resins and minerals, minimum wall thickness is 8mm

  1. How does your Trevi Boost work?


  2. ANSWER:
    High pressure mains cold water is used to "pull through" tank pressure water through the special venturi valve inside the shower control, so the resulting mixed water comes out at a much greater rate than could be achieved using an electric shower or ordinary shower mixer

  5. What is the difference between Ceramic Disc and Conventional Valves?


  6. ANSWER:
    The ceramic disc cartridge principle for bath, basin, bidet and shower fittings was developed by Ideal Standard and is the modern way to control water flow. There are no washers to wear and drip. A robust housing contains ceramic discs to control the flow of water through the fitting.

    Ceramic disc fittings are all "drip free" and impervious to lime deposit. Conventional Valve, A mechanism that controls the flow of water via a handle and is fitted with a washer


  7. What does PBV mean?


  8. ANSWER:
    PVB means Pressure Balancing Valve.


  9. What does CTV mean?


  10. ANSWER:
    CTV means Concentric Thermostatic Valve


  11. What is a Click Cartridge?


  12. ANSWER:
    A click cartridge gives you easy control over how much water you want to use. The user lifts the lever until they feel a slight resistance. This indicates that the fitting is using 50% of its flow. Applying greater pressure results in a click giving 100% flow


  13. My showerhead is leaking, what should I do?


  14. ANSWER:
    It is likely that you will need to replace your shower head please view view available parts on the Fastpart website.

  17. How do I get into my shower head to clean it?


  18. ANSWER:
    You may need a key to get into your showerhead please view the keys available on the Fastpart website first select your shower. Click HERE


  19. What size tap holes do I need to cut on my sink, basin, bath etc?


  20. ANSWER:
    All basins with the exception of vessel and some countertop basins already have a 35mm hole cut into them. Most taps come with templates for baths


  21. Can I change my ceramic disc to washer valves?


  22. ANSWER:

    Ceramic discs can be installed in valve taps but valve taps can not be used in Ceramic disc taps. This is in our Waterways range only


  23. What lengths are our shower hoses?


  24. ANSWER:
    Various sizes - 1.35m/1.5m/1.8m.

  25. What is a "Divertor"?


  26. ANSWER:
    A shower divertor is fitted to all combined bath and shower fittings. By operating the divertor, water can be directed from the bath spout to the shower hand spray


  27. What is a "Mixer Fitting"?


  28. ANSWER:
    Water from the hot and cold valves is mixed in the body of the fitting or spout to whatever temperature and adjusting the handles on the valves requires volume


  29. What is a "Monoblock Fitting"?


  30. ANSWER:
    These are one piece basin, bath or bidet mixers, which incorporate the hot and cold valves and spout in one body


  31. What does "Quarter Turn" mean


  32. ANSWER:
    It means when a ceramic disc cartridge that activates the water flow from offering just 90 C of movement


  33. What are "Pillar Taps"?


  34. ANSWER:
    Traditional separate hot and cold taps for baths and basins


  35. What is "Sequential"?


  36. ANSWER:
    Sequential taps use only one lever, which controls water temperature. The water flow always starts at cold, reducing risk of scalding and ensuring a cold water purge


  37. What is "Single Lever"?


  38. ANSWER:
    A simple lever action, which controls both flow and temperature in one easy action and is universally popular throughout Europe


  39. What is a "Three piece mixer"?


  40. ANSWER:
    A three piece mixer has a spout with separate hot and cold valves/levers/handles and fit on to three tap hole basins, baths and bidets


  41. What is "Twin flow fittings"?


  42. ANSWER:
    Even when water pressure is not balanced, Ideal Standard's twin flow fittings provide solutions for bath and basin. They allow cold supply direct from the mains, while the hot supply can be furnished from low-pressure storage

Shower Enclosures (Trays, Screens)



  1. My seal on my curved screen has gone green or cracked

  3. The Shower seal I have received for my curved screen is straight.


  4. ANSWER:
    If you soak the seal in hot water for 5 minutes, it will soften it up enough for it to fit your screen

  9. Tulip & Duchess cistern levers look the same will the Tulip one fit my Duchess

    NO they are not interchangeable.


  11. How do I remove my cistern lid from the push button cistern?


  12. ANSWER:
    *  Depress the large crescent shaped button.
    *  Whilst depressed gently prize the smaller button from the underneath until it pops out.
    *  When this has been done you can then remove the larger button in the same way.
    *  When they are both removed it will expose a white plastic screw that you should
        carefully with not too much force remove.
    *  As soon as you have done this the outer shroud will come out and the lid will lift off.
    *  Please not this method is only for use with the Twico flush valve that is identified by
        the black and green straw like rods under the buttons.
    *  Any other style of lid will just lift off.

  13. How do I stop water running into the pan


  14. ANSWER:
    Clea your cistern valve, or purchase our service kit and replace parts (search for available inlet valves HERE.)
    A full replacement valve can be purchased should you wish to change the full unit.

  7. My seat hinges have gone rusty, what should I do?


  8. ANSWER:
    This is not normally attributed to manufacturing defects, the cause is oxidisation or chemical attack and can easily be cleaned with Brasso which will remove the oxidisation (marks which look like rust).
